LAIPA Establishes Two Community Centers
Creation of community centers
LAIPA has established two community centers in the areas in north and southeast Los Angeles. The centers are run by two staff members and a large group of organizational volunteers. Over 1000 of volunteers hours are given at this two centers. Services and projects at the centers include:
1. Spanish literacy
2. Health forums
3. Free computer courses for low-income families
The Tonantzin Women’s Alternative Health Project, focusing on holistic health and the cultural needs of Indigenous Latinas and their families, funded by Liberty Hill and the Women’s Foundation.
